Hurricane Matthew Recovery #17 Sarasota Conference

In January, we had the pleasure of presenting at the first annual Sarasota Native American History Conference at the Sand Castle Resort in beautiful Lido Beach, Sarasota, Florida.

The conference was moderated by our long time friend and award winning author Jay Wertz. Jay is the author of the beautifully illustrated, The Native American Experience.

Our assistant director, Ronnie Francisco gave presentations on traditional teachings of the Iroquois and Native American religious perspectives. Additionally, we were delighted to display a number of artifacts from the museum and participate in panel discussions with esteemed colleagues Melissa S. Cody, Navajo textile artist, Jamie K. Oxendine (of Lumbee/Creek ancestry), adjunct professor at the University of Toledo and Robert S. McPherson, Professor of History at Utah State University.

We consider it a true honor to have participated in the event and are looking forward to presenting again at the second annual conference next January.
