18 April 2016; Volunteer With Us THIS WEEK!

Join Us THIS WEEK

To be a part of creating an interactive, outdoor exhibit at the museum!

What will be happening?

This is a big project and we need YOUR help to see it through to the end!

The main focus for this even is the completion of the outdoor longhouse. This task will include:

  • Covering the structural poles in free form epoxy
  • Minor reshaping of dried epoxy
  • Creating a wood look by using stains
  • Lashing the poles together to create a sturdy frame
  •
Side projects that are dependent on participation levels are:

  • Weaving mats out of local materials
  • Working with clay to make pots for the longhouse
  • Who can help?

No prior experience is needed! We will have volunteers and staff available to help teach the necessary skills. However, these projects are labor intensive and require focus, so they are not suited for young children.

What should I bring with me?

We will have some aprons and gloves available on site, but we suggest:

  • Wear clothing that can get stained and/or an apron
  • Medical style latex or neoprene gloves
  • How do I sign up?

    You can:

  • Contact our project coordinator, Ronnie, via the form at the bottom of this post
  • Let us know you’re coming on the Official Event Listing
  • Click “Join” on our Facebook Event Listing

Is there a way to help if I can’t attend?

Yes! We still need funding for materials! You can make a financial contribution through our GoFundMe Fundraising Campaign or you may purchase necessary materials directly.
