The background is of sunlit yaupon leaves with tiny white flowers in bloom. The wasp in the center of the shot is a female northern paper wasp. She is calming drinking nectar from the flowers. She’s mostly redish-brown in color but the base color is actually black. These wasps vary a lot in their markings and the most important identification markers are not visible in this image.
