The background of the image is the green leaves and bulbous flower bases of the wild poinsettia. Though it looks like a tiny red dragonfly is resting, the insect is a species of hover fly. The wings are mostly black with small swirls of transparency. The abdomen has thick stripes of red and black. The biggest give away is the eye structures as they are distinctly fly-like.
