There is an insect perched on a leaf that looks like a convincing paper wasp. Folded wings out the the side and positioned straight back. Black with thin lines of yellow to look like abdomen segments. Long antenna without feathering. It looks like a paper wasp. But this is a wasp mimicking moth. These types of moths often lay eggs on plants and the larva will burrow into the plant flesh to create a gall. The larva can safely feed until it’s time to emerge as an adult moth.
