There are many items in modern fashion that use sequins, from purses to evening gowns and from hats to neck ties. But have you ever thought to use them as beads on a necklace?
Some native artists have incorporated sequins in innovative ways. For example, while most of today’s fashion utilizes the facets on the metal sequins to create a stunning effect with reflected light, these sequins were stacked one on top of another as spacers in jewelry. Because sequins are uniformly sized and exceptionally thin, they create a surprisingly comfortable fit around the neck. Stacked sequins also allow the necklace to be more flexible than when tubular beads of shell or glass are used.
