June 18 Voices of the Past: Weaponry & Tools of the Eastern Woodlands
June 18 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Free With Admission
While we’re often taught about the primitive weaponry of indigenous people, how did they actually make it and how effective were they? Were they accurate or did they struggle to hunt? Did they have protection like shields as well as weapons? Did they have specific tools for making jewelry?
Join Shane as he answers all these questions and more about the Eastern Woodland people. From archery to the lesser known atlatls, and from knives to spears, get to see how they were made as well as explanations of their use and what kind of animals would be hunted. Shane will also be going over trapping and hunting techniques that were taught.
Shane is also a silversmith and will be presenting incredible jewelry he has made and explaining how they were made before the modern tools we all know.
So many exciting topics, it promises to be a fantastic time! There will be two opportunities to participate, at 11AM and again at 2PM.
