Songs & Dances of the Eastern Woodland People

This event was enjoyed by all that visited! Jack Mcclung came in full regalia to teach, share, and create a space where people could feel welcome to participate in several of the dances. Beginning with two welcome songs, it set the whole atmosphere of an exciting new experience for many of our attendees. Next, Jack called everyone to participate in multiple social dances.

The Mosquito Dance, where it is said if done correctly…one would avoid mosquito bites for the remainder of the year! An Alligator dance where everyone was encouraged to sing in response as well as swing their partner around like the death roll of an alligator. The Snake Dance where you joined hands to “slither” in a follow the leader style. Even a Canoe Dance where two lines of dancers swayed back and forth before joining into one long “canoe” line!

At one point, Jack sung a Stomp Dance where a little wasp friend was spotted dancing along to the beat! A video should be publicly available on our Facebook Page from THIS LINK.
