12 February 2024; Nature Trail Upgrade!

We’ve got something super exciting going on in the back of our Nature Trail!

But what is this strange metal and concrete structure and how does it play into the trail?

The museum was awarded a grant from the Outer Banks Tourist Bureau and part of that is going to turning the pavilion building into a beautiful Natural History Center!

But where does this odd structure come into it?

If you’ve seen our updated Local Exhibit, you’ll remember our stunning “trees” as you walk next to the longhouse.

We’ve taken that idea and expanded!

The classroom is getting ready to have two phenomenal trees with reaching branches! It may be a bit difficult to see how we’re going to turn the metal and concrete into trees, but we’re sharing so you can be part of the journey along side us!

Make sure to check back to see our progress and consider making plans to attend one of our classes next year so you can see it in person!
