29 April 2019; Our First Native Journeys!

We can’t thank everyone who came to Native Journeys: Music & Dance enough. We loved hearing your stories about your experiences. And a very special thank you to all those that were out there sharing our cultures.

Ha`aheo O Hawai`i (Cindi & Les) were amazing and we heard over and over again how wonderful it was to be able to experience Hula in the Outer Banks! NaMaWoChi – the drum was glorious and a wonderfully heart felt performance. They even allowed folks to get close or try their hand at drumming! Our masters of ceremony, Mike & Jeannie not only spent the day dancing, but patiently explaining everything. Crowfeather was blessing all with her storytelling ALL DAY! Gray and Rico did a much appreciated sharing of language and history. Anna with Yaupon tea was there to share her knowledge and offer samples. Lorri Raccoon had a lovely turn out for her rawhide rattles. Even WindDancer with her amazing skills at facepainting stole the show!

Not to mention all the volunteers that helped us set up and run errands- Mark, Lori, Tom, Debbie, Bear, Eddie, Patrick, Patty, Cory, Erika, and probably a few we forgot to mention. Barefoot Wade for all his work on the sound- and some pretty fine drumming!

We even had incredible Vendors: Backwoods, 4 Bears and Sacred Friends. And a special Hey yah- to Quarterdeck Restaurant for amazing food- and the best Frybread had in a Long Time!

This was truly an event to remember and full of so many blessings. Our photographer is currently processing photos and we will be posting them in the future, so be on the lookout for them!
