3 October 2022; Special Appreciation of Our Staff

This week we opened the new longhouse exhibit!  The project has taken more than a year – lots of fun; LOTS of work and lots of reasons to celebrate.  Normally we put the spotlight on our wonderful volunteers, but this week, I am claiming my prerogative as Director to highlight the work of our two amazing staff members: Barbara Miller and Amber Roth.

Both are accomplished, talented artists, and when you combine their skills, the results are glorious.  They have done everything from combing through local woods to find the perfect pictures for our murals, creating life-size decals for our 3-D wall and working a bit of magic (which included new soldering skills) to create the necessary technology for our “talking book” and the educational videos, sewing garments, finding the perfect story for our listening center, laying carpet, turning posts into trees, arranging displays, moving pine straw, making clouds . . . and more!  They are the means by which the museum continues to grow, and as we open this new exhibit, we want to thank them for their selfless contributions and celebrate their astounding talents. They are far more than museum staff – they are FANTASTIC museum friends!

We hope you will soon be able to visit and spend some time in the longhouse gallery – enjoying the beautiful forest, seeing the clouds, hearing the birds, listening to a story and MORE!
