20 June 2016; Ocracoke Artifact

We are happy to announce that a new artifact was recently donated for our local exhibit.

Originally found while clamming by local resident, Greg Bragg, this artifact seems to be out of volcanic rock. The most recent owner, Robert Doughty of Ocracoke, pointed out the shallow scrape marks from the clam rake that was used by Bragg.

Measuring 6″ x 5″ x 2 1/2″, this wallowed out stone was used as a grinding tool for corn and other grains.
