31 July 2017; Bill McConnell’s Visit

Bill McConnell Held His Class Despite Power Outage

Those of you keeping up with the local OBX news have probably seen that the whole island lost power due to an unfortunate accident during the construction of the new bridge. But Bill McConnell and our staff was not to be discouraged!

An ambitious group of visitors that were still interested in the survival skills and history of the local indigenous people were led down our nature trail. The pavilion on the trail was opened up to allow a cooling breeze while Bill kindly shared his extensive knowledge with all there. Visitors got to handle tools that Bill crafted himself and ask questions.

Everyone enjoyed themselves despite the lack of electricity and there’s rumor that he may come back for another class next year! So stay posted and you just might see another opportunity to join in the fun.
