Come Learn About the Tlingit!

Visitors to the museum have long been aware that this little museum on the Outer Banks is intertribal and showcases artifacts from all over the country. We now have the chance to kick off our 40th anniversary by inviting someone who has worked with the Tlingit to share their experiences with you! In just one week, on April 8th, come and share with us!

The Tlingit are an indigenous tribe of the Pacific Northwest coast of North America, primarily in British Columbia and Alaska. They have a colorful history and culture that dates back thousands of years!

While it is known they are master wood workers that make stunning totem poles, did you know they also constructed large houses and incredible art as well? Perhaps most impressive are the war canoes, wooden armor, and claim they traded with the Chinese before they ever met Europeans.

As Leandra lived in Sitka, Alaska and worked with several Tlingit tribal members, she brings her experience to the Frisco Native American Museum to share with you! You’ll not want to miss this opportunity to see some beautiful examples of Tlingit art and hear Leandra share stories of these phenomenal people.

This event is free with admission, though you can RSVP on the event listing by clicking the image above or by following THIS LINK.
