It’s National Wildflower Week and we’re all about growing native species!
As you may know, we’ve got a lovely Nature Trail and have started a pollinator garden project along the front of the building.
Wildflowers are an easy way to add color and attract some really interesting wildlife to your space! Throughout the year, you can explore our trail and see a wide variety of plants. The milk pea featured here is just one small example of a native plant that’s often overlooked despite the important role it has in our ecosystem!
This coastal native is a host plant for several butterfly (like gray hairstreak) larva and as a food source for our native pollinators! Despite it’s tiny presence, it has a massive impact.

Support Our Efforts by Donating!

Over the past couple of years, we’ve been working hard to plant native plants and encourage our native pollinators to visit. In partnership with Backyard Butterflies, we’ve held our first annual Moth Night and have already scheduled our 2nd in June!
But we’ve got some big ideas that need your support! We’d love to provide some educational signage about our garden and how it changes through the seasons. We’d also love to eventually purchase our own LepiLed light in order to host other bug nights for everyone to enjoy.
Please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign to help us achieve these goals towards education and supporting our beautiful island!
